Developers who just completed a Uptown Dallas hotel tower want to build a luxury high-rise apartment across the street.
Alamo Manhattan Corp. opened the Marriott Dallas Uptown with 255 rooms on Fairmount Street earlier this year.
The commercial real estate company is currently working on plans for a 25-story, 268-unit apartment tower in Fairmount and Carlisle Street. “We can’t wait to go across the street and create something special,” said Matt Segrest, CEO of Alamo Manhattan. “We have already invested in this neighborhood, and it is our home.
Alamo Manhattan has its offices in one of two small buildings on Fairmount Street that would be demolished to make way for the new tower.
WDG Architecture designs the building.
“We are looking to develop a high rise mixed-use tower with an emphasis on pedestrians,” Segrest said. “We intend to extend the street experience that we have created with the hotel.
The ground floor of the proposed apartment tower would include a restaurant and rental space for artists, craftspeople and other uses. “We are trying to listen to the community to see what they want out there,” he said.
Alamo Manhattan will need a zoning change to develop the proposed tower.
The developer opened its 14-story Marriott Dallas Uptown in February. In addition to the new hotel rooms, the tower between Fairmount and Maple Avenue includes a top-floor lounge and 13,000 square feet of meeting space.
Alamo Manhattan opened its first Uptown Dallas rental community near Victory Park ten years ago. The developer built other apartments in Uptown and North Oak Cliff.
Segrest said the planned Fairmount Street tower will fit into other projects in the same area. “There are a number of recently approved skyscrapers,” he said. “It’s the direction of the neighborhood.
