LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A new hotel may soon take over part of the Pass Casino parking lot in Henderson, on Water Street and Atlantic Way.
Casino owner Joseph DeSimone said the project is currently in the administrative design review stage and is working with hotel brand IHG to create the nation’s second Atwell Suites.
“There will be a wine bar at the front of the water street and there will be a two-story lounge in front of the hotel building.
There will be 90 rooms, most of them suites. It will accommodate the hockey arena, the families going there and it will accommodate the amount of traffic on the waterways, especially on weekends,” he said.
Desimone also told 8 News Now that building a hotel has always been a priority, not only to complement the casino but also for the growing area, and he is now preparing to submit the plans to the city of Henderson for approval.
For Pacific Diner owner Marvin Wallace, new growth means more customers.
“The region is growing pretty much every week, every month, every day,” he said. Lots of restaurants have entered, lots of bars have entered and there are several passing in front of us and it’s great. All of this helps the area grow and become much more popular.
Redevelopment manager Anthony Malloy of the Town of Henderson says he is delighted to welcome the new hotel as it will help accommodate tourists and attract foot traffic.
“I think a lot of people haven’t been to the water streets for a long time, maybe even a decade. So what they can really expect is to see a transformation from what they’ve seen and experienced before to what it is today,” Malloy said.
