Police officers were spat after responding to reports that a man threatened staff at a luxury spa hotel.
Merseyside Police were called to Formby Hall on Southport Old Road, Formby around 5:55 pm.
They had received reports of a man threatening staff and residents.

No one was injured but the man was reportedly in possession of glass.
A 31-year-old man from Rainhill has been arrested on suspicion of brawling and assaulting rescue workers after two police officers were reportedly spat on. He remains in custody, police said today.
Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: “It would have been a distressing incident to watch, and once again our officers were subjected to a disgusting assault in the line of duty.
“If you have seen the incident or have any information, please let us know as we continue to investigate.”
